The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), formerly known as the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program, was established by the government of Alberta to support a robust economy. Through this programme, the government identifies potential immigrants with experience and skill sets and offers them an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certification, which speeds up their application for immigration and provides them permanent status in this province.
The Alberta Immigration Nominee Program (AINP) comprises of three major immigration streams:
- The Strategic Recruitment Stream
- The Employer Driver Stream, and
- The Self-Employed Farmer Stream
These streams are further divided into sub-categories which are as follows:-
Strategic Recruitment Stream
People can apply for the AINP through the Strategic Recruitment Stream without the help of an employer. Three categories can also be used to further categorise the stream.:-
Compulsory and Optional Trades Category-
Tradespeople who possess either an Alberta Qualification Certificate or a Recognized Trade Certificate are eligible for this programme. When the application is submitted, the workers must have a valid work permit and be residing in the province.
Engineering Occupations Category-
Built specifically for Alberta-experienced designers, engineers, and drafters. The candidate must have work experience in one of the twelve areas the AINP has specified in order to apply under this category.
Post Graduate Worker Category
Applicants for this programme must hold a postgraduate degree from an Alberta postsecondary school that is accredited and be employed in the province under a valid work permit.
Employer-Driven Stream
Employers are able to recommend qualified employees for immigration and permanent residence through the Employer-Driven route. This increases workplace happiness for individuals and aids firms in keeping their top talent. Three subcategories make up the Employer-Driven stream.:-
Skilled Worker Category-
The stream is intended for those who are employed full-time and permanently in a skilled vocation that qualifies. People who work outside of this province are also eligible to apply under this stream.
International Graduate Category-
Candidates for this category must have a graduate degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada, a current post-graduation work permit, and a full-time, permanent employment offer from an indigenous company.
Semi-Skilled Worker Category-
The category has been outlined for temporary foreign workers who hold a permanent, full time job offer from a local employer in a qualifying semi-skilled field of work.
Self-Employed Farmer Stream-
The Self-Employed Farmer Stream offers permanent residence to people who hold farming experience and have enough funds to purchase or develop an existing farm in the province of Alberta.
AINP application processing
All applications received under AINP are assessed and processed based on
- information received from the labour market
- the volume of applications received
- the date on which an application was received
